George Murphy and The Rising Sons play Páirc Festival on Sunday 25th August, taking place at the New Irish Centre, Kings Heath, Birmingham.
George Murphy and The Rising Sons are set to bring their electrifying mix of folk, traditional Irish, and rock music to Páirc Festival 2024. Known for their dynamic performances and George Murphy’s powerful vocals, this band has quickly risen to prominence in the Irish music scene since their formation in 2016.
Led by George Murphy on vocals, the six piece also features Joe Murray on Guitar, Dave Browne on Mandolin, Dessie Davey on Fiddle, James Mulvaney on Bass and Alan McGuire on Drums.
George Murphy first gained national attention on the Irish television show “You’re a Star” in 2003. His debut album, Dreamed a Dream, achieved critical and commercial success, establishing him as a major talent in the Irish music world. In 2016, George formed The Rising Sons, bringing together a group of talented musicians dedicated to reviving and reimagining traditional Irish music with a modern twist.
Their music is characterised by rich storytelling, vibrant melodies, and a powerful blend of traditional and contemporary sounds. The band’s debut album, The Ballad of Archie Thompson, showcases their unique style and has been well-received by audiences and critics alike.
